If the issues to be addressed are numerous or complicated, then there may be additional charges depending on the complexity of the agreement. Most often, additional charges for a complex settlement agreement will range from $100 to $400. Unless the marriage was of very short duration with no children, or the parties have been separated for a very long time, it is advisable to have an agreement. Otherwise, you may find yourself in some court fighting over property or custody matters long after you thought your divorce was finished. Often times, military couples will have already entered into a settlement agreement with the assistance of a military advisor. Such agreements may be incorporated into the divorce decree at no additional cost.
